After chatting with heaps of awesome folks lately, we’re buzzing to announce some fresh new activities at The Galaxy to keep you entertained between parties. If you’ve got more ideas, flick ‘em our way!

1️⃣ DJ SchoolEver wanted to learn to DJ? Now’s your chance! Our experienced CHCH selectors will mentor you. We’ve got the CDJ3000s ready for you to practice and record your sets. Jump into our practice booth, use the Pioneer controller and headphones, and level up your skills. And when you’re ready? Show off those new tunes at parties here at The Galaxy.

2️⃣ Music Production & Visual Editing SuiteWe’re setting up a small studio space for anyone curious about music production or film editing. Mess around with our gear, play with the software and subscriptions we’ve got, and connect with mentors who know the ropes. Start your journey into the world of creation or keep growing as part of a local community of makers.

3️⃣ Open Deck NightsGot a set you want to record? Book in for our weekly open deck nights. Get recorded, add some visuals, and walk away with something to send to festivals or share on your socials. Step up and let the world see what you’ve got.

4️⃣ Galaxy Online RadioWe’re putting together Christchurch’s biggest database of local selectors. Tune in for live and recorded sets from local DJs, producers, and guests – a who’s who of Christchurch music. Keep an ear out!

5️⃣ Learn Event ManagementGet hands-on experience in curating and managing events. Learn the ropes, build connections with local DJs and producers, and earn a bit of putea while you’re at it. Dive in and grow your skills!

Loads of you have been asking for these kinds of activities – and it’s time to bring them back! Once upon a time, this very building was the HQ for this kind of creativity, and we’re ready to revive that vibe and build a community of active creators right here at 206 Barbadoes St.
